Today is Earth Day 2023, although, in our opinion, every day should be Earth Day) and according to the national center for environmental information:
· Europe had its warmest January on record, while North America and Africa each had a January that ranked among the 10 warmest on record.
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) stated that 2023 is expected to mark 10 consecutive years with global average temperatures at least 1 degree Celsius higher than the average during the preindustrial period. Earth’s average temperature in 2023 is forecast to be between 1.08 and 1.32 degrees Celsius higher than it was before about 1900, when humans started burning fossil fuels more ferociously. WHAT CAN WE DO to help with saving our planet?
1. Reduce Your Carbon Footprint
"Number one on our list is reducing your carbon footprint. This means making conscious choices about the products you buy, the transportation you use, and the energy you consume. Small changes like taking public transportation or switching to LED light bulbs can make a big difference in reducing greenhouse gas emissions."
2. Use Renewable Energy Sources
"Did you know that the sun provides enough energy to power the entire planet for a year in just one hour? That's why it's important to use renewable energy sources like solar, wind, and hydropower. By using renewable energy, we can reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and help slow down climate change."
3. Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle
"The three R's: reduce, reuse, and recycle. These are simple yet powerful ways to save the planet. By reducing our waste, reusing items, and recycling materials, we can decrease the amount of trash that ends up in landfills and help conserve our natural resources."
4. Eat a Plant-Based Diet
"Did you know that animal agriculture is responsible for more greenhouse gas emissions than the entire transportation sector? By adopting a plant-based diet, we can reduce our carbon footprint and help slow down climate change. Plus, it's a great way to improve your health!"
5. Support Renewable Energy Policies
"One way to make a big impact is by supporting renewable energy policies. By advocating for clean energy initiatives, you can help create a more sustainable future for generations to come."
6. Use Water Responsibly
"Water is a precious resource that we often take for granted. By using water responsibly, we can help conserve this vital resource and reduce our carbon footprint. Simple actions like taking shorter showers and fixing leaky faucets can make a big difference."
7. Plant Trees
"Trees are not only beautiful, but they also play a crucial role in fighting climate change. By planting trees, we can help absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and create a more sustainable environment for future generations."
8. Support Local Farmers
"Buying locally grown produce is a great way to support your community and reduce your carbon footprint. By buying food that is grown closer to home, you can help reduce the amount of fossil fuels needed to transport food across long distances."
9. Use Eco-Friendly Products
"Using eco-friendly products is another simple way to help save the planet. By choosing products that are made from sustainable materials and are biodegradable, we can reduce our impact on the environment and help create a more sustainable future."
10. Spread Awareness
"Last but not least, spreading awareness is a powerful way to create change. By sharing information about climate change and encouraging others to take action, we can create a more sustainable future for generations to come."
